Trying Out Twitter

I really tryed to get into Twitter. I followed the people on the list, as well as a few people of my choice. I sent a few @messages, direct messaged a couple of my friends who I started following, but never figured out the retweet thing. I went on it once a day for a week trying to figure it out, but I just couldn’t get into it. I felt weird messaging people I don’t know…I mean, what are you supposed to write? I really don’t have an interest in following people I don’t know, and couldn’t find many people I do know, so I think that negatively affected my opinion of Twitter a lot.
There were a couple things, however, that I found interesting. Although it wasn’t a place for me to see what my friends were up to, it was interesting to follow some people from the journalism world. My favorite part was when people posted links to interesting and random news stories or websites. I found myself going through and looking for the posts with links attached, I deffinetly found these to be the most interesting.
Also, after having it set up for about a week, I started getting a few emails saying that people had started following me. I think two people I know, and one random person had found me and decided to follow me. This was cool because I didn’t think anyone I knew had an account, and it made me like it a little better.
I think young people have a hard time accepting Twitter because we are so into Facebook. Barely anyone I know is on Twitter, and it seems like Facebook without all the cool stuff…just the statuses. Personally, this assignment didn’t turn me into a Tweeter…if anything it confirmed that I am not one. Sorry, but I’ve already erased my account and I won’t be returning any time soon!
I agree with you. I am not much of a Twitter fan myself. I don’t see what the hype is all about.
